Whether you are reading romance or science fiction, there’s nothing like a good book to fall asleep fast. Moving your eyes back and forth makes them tired which makes it easier to fall asleep. Exerting the mental effort to understand the words and imagine what is going on tires your mind and aids in the sleep process. It also helps to read something that is more difficult and less interesting as it tires you out more easily, and keeps you from getting too involved which can keep you awake. Reading is a great trick to use when you need that extra push to help your body get the sleep it needs.
